Sessions for volunteer training (those who have already oriented) with our minis are available on Saturdays or Sundays from 12-2.

5/15/13 CUBS GAME at WRIGLEY FIELD: Thanks to those that attended our first fund-raiser and to our board member Dina Morgan for organizing this. It was a beautiful night in Chi town and our Cubbies got a W and beat the Rockies!
5/19/13 PET PARTNERS TESTING: The Mane in Heaven Board of Directors tested with our minis for the final hands-on exam offered through Pet Partners, a national animal-assisted therapy organization. We all passed! Mystery, Turnabout and Lunar are now registered therapy animals as well as all of our board members Jodie, Lara, Nancy, Jean and Dina.
6/15/13 (Saturday) 1:30-3:30 pm SALUTE TO OUR MILITARY AND VETERAN FAMILIES at the Palatine Township Center, 721 S. Quentin Rd., Palatine, IL: The Palatine Township Community Action Team and ChildServ are hosting a fun-filled and educational afternoon to discuss what services and resources are available to military and veteran families. Our horses will be there to support them! There is a Kids Corner with onsite kids activities and arts and crafts tables. Also Job readiness skills instruction and Virtual Combat Therapy. Win free door prizes! The event is run in conjunction with ChildServ which helps Chicagoland’s at-risk children and their families build, achieve and sustain better lives.
6/22/13 (Saturday) 8-10 am SWEDISH PANCAKE BREAKFAST at the Historic Methodist Campground, Des Plaines IL: Come support this 1860 camp settlement campground at their Swedish Pancake Breakfast. The breakfast is from 8:30-12:30 and our minis will be available from 10am-12pm. There is a fun horse project for the kids to complete too! Call HMC at 847-636-6355 if any questions, no reservations are required for the breakfast, pay at the door. $8 per adult, $4 per child, under 2 are free, benefits HMC.
6/29/13 (Saturday) FISHING DERBY at Willow Creek Community Church, Barrington IL: The lake at Willow Creek belongs to the Special Friends ministry for this annual event which is designed to engage, honor, and celebrate individuals with special needs or disabilities (and their families). Come enjoy a morning of food, fishing, face painting, music, dancing, and more, PLUS the Mane in Heaven minis will be there, sneakers on! All Mane in Heaven handlers are encouraged to attend.
7/14/13 (Sunday) 12-2 pm SCHAUMBURG BOOMERS BASEBALL GAME, Schaumburg IL: Join us before the ball game for Family Sundays up on the hill for some mini time! The Boomers will play the Traverse City Beach Bums and host the World’s Largest Squirt Gun Fight that day. They will provide the squirt guns and everyone will be invited out on the field after the game for a water-gun battle! Come see our minis take the field too! Tickets cost $10 each, payable to Mane in Heaven. Please call 847-477-7825 to reserve your tickets.
7/29/13 (Sunday) 1-2 pm VISIT at The Garlands, Barrington, IL: Our minis will be available for hugging, petting, brushing and loving from 1-2pm. The Garlands, located near the heart of Barrington, is a unique community for people ages 55 and older that provides residents an uncompromising lifestyle in a resort setting. No charge.
8/10/13 (Saturday) 1:30-3:00 pm VISIT at The Lutheran Home, Arlington Hts, IL: Join our minis at this Lutheran Life Community. They provide a full calendar of engaging, life-enriching programs for their residents and the greater community and our horses have been invited to engage with their residents. The Shepherds’ Flock daycare children are also invited! No charge.
